Premier League new boys Burnley are interested in signing Welsh international Paul Dummett, according to The Chronicle.
Sean Dyche is reported to be an admirer of the left back but have yet to follow that up with a formal bid. Rafa Benitez is keen to have the left back remain at St James Park, viewing Dummett as a key reason for the improved defensive balance we’ve seen in pre-season.
Recent comments by Dummett suggest he is in no hurry to return to the Premier League unless it is in a black-and-white striped shirt. A local lad made good, he has nothing but praise for the way in which Rafa prepares the side. Benitez, he has previously comments, works consistently with the back four, improving them all the time.
Despite not being capped since 2015, it’s surely only a matter of time before his consistency is recognised more frequently at international level.
It ought to be a cold day in Hell before he is allowed to leave St James Park but this is football and common sense rarely applies.
