Newcastle United want to sign former Inter striker

Championship outfit Newcastle United are currently considering a swoop for Luc Castaignos, according to reports from the Chronicle (via HITC).

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez arguably possesses the best attacking lineup in the Championship this season due to the presence of Dwight Gayle, Ayoze Perez, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Adam Armstrong.

Despite boasting such a quality strike force though, Benitez is said to be looking to sign another attacker before the end of the summer transfer window.

The likes of David McGoldrick and Che Adams have recently been mentioned as targets for Benitez and now according to reports from the Chronicle (via HITC) the Magpies’ boss is currently considering a swoop for Frankfurt striker Luc Castaignos.

Castaignos has been linked with a move to Newcastle in the past and given his seeming availability, the Championship side are said to be looking to revive their interest in the 23-year-old this summer.

Signing Castaignos will not be an easy task for the Tyneside based outfit though as even Premier League side Southampton have been mentioned as an interested party in the former Inter Milan attacker.
