Another Newcastle United legend believes he is better suited to Real Madrid than St James Park. According to The Chronicle, Moussa Sissoko is at it again and has issued another ‘come and get me’ plea to Zinedine Zidane, his third this week.
And like the other individual, Sissoko is a legend only in his own lunchtime.
Sam Allardyce has never escaped his belief that he “would be more suited to Internazionale or Real Madrid” and Moussa is going to find it hard to get supporters to look beyond, “I hope Real will come for me,” before he, like a lovesick teenager stood up on the date of a lifetime, forlornly added, “I’m still waiting.”
During the course of his BBC World Service interview, he asked that everyone recognise that he has given his all for the club and that all will be well if he is forced to play on this season with his tail well and truly between his legs. Some hope; there’s an undercurrent of frustration with him, not necessarily for wanting to leave but the manner in which he is trying to force his way out of the club.
It’s modern football, it’s how Real Madrid conduct their transfer business and if they bid, it will be nowhere near the £35m the board want. The question Newcastle United has to ask itself – and answer – is how low are they prepared to go to get shot of a player who quite simply doesn’t want to be here.
Thankfully, it will be all over in three weeks or so – one way or another.
