The Chronicle reckons Siem De Jong will soon be returning to the Eredivisie.
Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven are looking to bring the midfielder back home after two years on Tyneside, a spell described in the newspaper as a “nightmare”.
It’s been bizarre if you think about the injuries he has suffered here: collapsed lung, eye damage caused by a contact lens – nothing so trivial as a hamstring pull for Siem.
Although De Jong preferred to return to his previous club Ajax, PSV are stealing a march just as they nicked the title last season on the final day.
According to the report, a medical is set to take place over the weekend as the club’s agree the terms of a season-long loan deal. Hopefully that will include fixing a fee for a permanent deal at the end of next May.
It’s one down, five to go in clearing out the deadwood. Not a permanent deal but paving the way for one.
