Newcastle are set to strengthen their midfield, reports The Chronicle.
The Brentford midfielder is on Tyneside for talks over a move from Griffin Park ahead of the Magpies EFL Cup clash with Cheltenham Town.
Chronicle sources claim that Judge may undergo a medical this evening although it seems more likely that will be tomorrow with the cup clash at St James Park the club’s priority.
In the last year of his contract, Newcastle are keen to secure the midfielder at a cut-price, particularly as he is returning to full fitness having broken his leg in April. Under those circumstances, it would be of little surprise if he joins on a loan deal with a fee agreed for next summer, despite the fact that Newcastle could land him for nothing.
He was a vital cog in Brentford’s attack last year with 15 goals and 11 assists in the league alone. He is well-versed with the lower leagues having begun his career at Blackburn and taken in the sights of Plymouth Argyle and Notts County before arriving in west London.
