Alan Judge may not be on his way to Newcastle according to The Shields Gazette.
At his press conference earlier today, Brentford boss Dean Smith offered the opinion that Alan Judge is unlikely to join Newcastle during this transfer window.
Judge suffered a broken leg in April and isn’t expected to return to the first team until October, casting doubt over whether or not he would pass a medical. Bizarrely, despite recuperating, he may be deemed fit enough to sign with the manner in which the break is healing more important than his actual match readiness.
Nonetheless, Newcastle are still interested and football has a history of deals being brokered for players in this situation – Kim Kallstrom signed for Arsenal on loan despite have a broken back – is one which immediately springs to mind.
Judge’s record last season hints that he may be worth waiting for but right now, we need players who are fit and ready for the promotion fight.
