  1. Cheers Andy.
Wasn’t too excited by this signing at first given his age, but when you look at his goals scored record at this level it’s worth a punt on him. Hope the guy does well for us as it’s his last shot at the big time if he helps us go up.

  2. Don’t know if the guy will do a job, most scum fans say he was the worst and very lazy,is it sour grapes???

    The Turkish lad has signed

  3. Sky reporting the fee is 2 mil ?? has the guy only got one leg or something he’s young is a international with today’s prices it seems very very cheap

  4. Ice, given what we blew on Thauvin and Cabella I’m quite happy to see us spend a bit less, at least it’s not quite so crushing if they fail to light up the pitch.

  6. Why is this article not available on the front page (if that makes sense)

I really don’t want to be horrible about this lad, but it’s a long time since I have been so underwhelmed with a signing. Some signings have really excited me & some have really annoyed me – this one, nothing ?

Lazaar could be an interesting one though.

  7. Just looking through SSN transfer centre.

Callum McMannaman & Rickie Lambert available from WBA – I’d have taken Lambert over Murphy personally. Mc could probably do a decent job in the EFL but I don’t like the lad so sod that.

WBA agree £13m fee with Spurs for Chadli – give us Chadli & £15m and you can have Sissoko. Ryan Mason is available from Spurs as well – I’d swap both for Sissoko.

Lazio have also told Ravel Morrison he’s free to leave – the kid had talent but he’s a bit of a Nile Ranger so I’d pass on him I reckon.

  8. Murphy is a bizarre one, Other than him & Clark I’ve been absolutely delighted with what we’ve done.

I’d rather have seen us try for Ricky Lambert & Steven Caulker who were available for round about the same price.

Once the Atsu one goes through, we can concentrate on outgoings (One sour faced **** in particular)

  9. I don’t give a toss what Scum have to say about our new striker. He played for them yonks ago. In the last 3 years he has a record of 123 games and 67 goals or assists. If he were lazy he would not have achieved those numbers. He gives us presence up front for Perez and Gayle to play off and his assists record is good. Let’s give him a chance. He’s almost a free signing and gives us more depth and options than we previously had. He’s also experienced and successful at this level.

They are obsessed Sham, I reckon they are missing us tbh.

What a nice kid, shook mine & the boys hand and had photo with the boy – who didn’t have a clue who Lazaar was ?

  13. I’ve seen Atsu play a few times & he was eye catching, The McManaman link seems to have legs as well, Both have struggled in recent years but are pacey & talented enough to do well in this division.

I’d sooner persist with them than the likes Sammy, Vukic, Rivière & the born again Gouffran 🙄

CC, cheers, not sure about Mcmanaman, can be a bit dirty, have we forgiven him for Haidara yet ?

It was a shocking tackle but for me the reason it got so nasty was the handling on the incident by the officials & Wigan. Had he been given a red, Apologised to Haidara afterwards it would have been sorted as thankfully the injury wasn’t as bad as first feared.

The fact he got off Scot free, They cheated us with that last gasp handball goal, Carver got sent to the stands because of their staff & stewards OTT reaction, Martinez smarmy bullshit, Pathetic old Bigot Whelan embarrassing himself with his comments.

The whole thing stunk; I will always delight in Wigan/Martinez downfall after that & the fact we have loaned them players since beggars belief…

  16. Murphy is what he is. A back up striker who will probably do a decent job for us. As for the defender I have no idea, although I’m delighted we’ve finally signed a bloody left back! I’m sure he’s better at going forward than Dummett.

I think if we get this kid from Chelsea that will be us for the window and we couldn’t complain. I think we have the best squad in the league and should be no excuses.

Quite right CC, I know the lad had previous for bad tackles and since Haidara too for that matter, anyway unlikely we’ll sign in imo.

@NUFC360 @lee_ryder Apparently due to a problem with the left meniscus: http://www.ulusalkanal.com.tr/m/?id=118746

I had my meniscus operated on last year but it still gives me gip from time to time and I wouldn’t wanna run with it. Could be a big problem for Tiote this.

Yep Kodjia will be a loss, but Tammy is scoring well so they should cope ok

  25. Kim – if it were loaning Atsu or buying McManaman then I’d take Mc personally.
Atsu has done nowt on his previous loans and I thought Mc was a good player for Wigan – struggled at WBA like. Yes he took Haidara out, but all I can say to that is if he’s ours he’s at least kicking other teams players ?

  26. Did we ever get official confirmation as to why Tiote’s previous moves failed at the last mi Ute despite flying in to complete deals? Has he in fact failed 2 or 3 medicals with various clubs since January?

Maybe we are stuck with him until the end of the season. To be fair, I’d he is fit for a portion of the season then he will be useful.

Sham – I read it was cost they tried to reduce the fee last minute. They had agreed to a £1.5m fee then only wanted to pay 750k. We said we wanted at least £1m and they wouldn’t increase their offer so we knocked it on the head.

  28. dont like this talk of Callum McManaman coming to the toon there has always been talk of him being trouble in the dressing room plus hes a right dirty git

      (Quote)

  29. Mcmanaman for whatever reason only made 15 appearances last season in all compwtitions – all as a sub or subbed. Total game time equated to 4 full football matches.

The season before he had a half decent half season in the Championship and the season before that he was rubbish in the Championship.

If he comes in as back up for Ritchie then fine, but he’s done nothing so far to get excited about. I guess if he has certain performance characteristics that Rafa feels he can use them it does not matter what his history is, as he may have been mismanaged. Unlikely mind as you would think he would have shown something at least.

We have a young lad called Calling Roberts in the reserve side. I’d give him a go as back up instead tbh then buy a proper winger next season when we are promoted.

      (Quote)

  30. I’d be more willing to move past McManaman’s horror tackle on Haïdara if he had shown some evidence of being any good. But if he could only make 15 appearance for a West Brom side that was less than exciting, what does that say about him?

If he puts in some important goals/assists, I’m sure I’ll change my tune, but there have to be better options we could be looking at.

  31. Atsu deal is season loan with view to buy, surely it’s time this lad came good Chelsea must have seen something in him in the first place to buy him, loan is a good way to look the lad over imo that way you don’t get ripped off either way

  32. Hasn’t he committed a couple more horror tackles since Haidara , I’m sure I’ve read that he has.

  38. This might not be the highest bar to clear, but I remember Atsu causing trouble against the US in the group stage of the last World Cup, too. He has legitimate pace, which is always nice. And having the buy option in the loan is huge – much better than Chelsea being able to just take him back if Rafa gets the best out of him.

  39. Ghana and Senegal are through, but Tunisia have to win against the group leaders to progress. Diame would be a big miss. Should cope without the other 2.

  40. Well done Big Sam for dropping Jack Wilshire from Wngland. He has not been taking his career seriously enough – and to top it off even Wenger has had enough and has told him he can leave. Lol. Such a wasted talent but he has time to sort himself out. Doubtful though.

Joe Hart odd to Torino? Strange one.

  43. Yes, thanks, Sham.

So Atsu is a “done deal” and McManaman is next in line.

Only problem I foresee is in January when ACN is on. How many players will we be missing? Mbemba, Atsu and Diame?

      (Quote)

  44. SSN saying Atsu having medical then McManaman – no to Ravel Morrison.
If Rickie Lambert is available I wouldn’t mind him in as well personally.

  45. I’m actually surprised McManaman would favour joining us knowing how much the fans hated on him for that tackle.

  46. Problem for him is he’s been treading water for nearly 3 years. Looked a good prospect at Wigan. Might be Pulis I suppose. He’s had several nasty incidents since Haidara. Incidentally where’s he these days?

  47. Read in Shields Gazette that Atsu had a stress fracture of his shin last year which would explain why he had so few appearances. He is probably worth a gamble.
