Newcastle United considering a move for 25-year-old; player free to leave

Newcastle United are mulling over a £4.7 million move for West Bromwich Albion winger Callum McManaman, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.

McManaman has received hardly any playing time since making a move to West Bromwich Albion from Wigan Athletic back in January 2015 and the winger is now widely expected to be leaving the Hawthorns this summer.

Confirming the fact that McManaman is up for sale, West Brom manager Tony Pulis stated following his side’s 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough on Sunday, “I expect McManaman to leave. We’ll get our money back on him.”

Championship outfit Newcastle United have widely been mentioned as the club interested in signing McManaman and now according to reports from the Daily Mirror, it has been claimed that the Magpies are seriously considering a swoop for the 25-year-old at the moment.

It is believed that Newcastle are ready to match West Brom’s £4.7 million asking price for McManaman and the winger could well arrive at St. James’ Park within the next 48 hours.

McManaman is not the most popular of figures in Newcastle following his shocking challenge on Massadio Haidara during a clash between the Magpies and Wigan back in 2013 and it will be interesting to see what sort of reception the winger will get from the fans if indeed he completes the transfer.
