Report: Newcastle ready spend big to sign 27-year-old, Championship rivals to profit

Newcastle United are keen on securing the services of Brentford star Alan Judge, according to reports from the Irish Sun.

Newcastle United have clearly made a fine start to their Championship campaign and many believe that the Magpies will be able to coast their way to promotion into the Premier League this season.

However, the 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers during the weekend proved that things are not going to be so easy for Newcastle and they will surely have a lot of work to do in order to earn the coveted place in the English top flight.

Manager Rafael Benitez should be well aware of this fact and the Spaniard is believed to be keen on increasing his team’s chances of earning promotion by further strengthening his squad in January.

Now according to reports from the Irish Sun, it has been claimed that Benitez is ready to make a swoop for Brentford star Alan Judge.

The report state that Newcastle will have to pay as much as £10 million in order to sign Judge and if indeed the deal goes through, even Championship side Blackburn Rovers are set to rake in a profit of around £2 million due to a presence of a 20% sell-on clause when they sold the midfielder to Brentford a couple of years ago.
