Report: Newcastle United monitor 22-year-old international attacker ahead of prospective January move

Newcastle United have sent scouts to monitor Anderlecht attacker Frank Acheampong, according to reports from Voetbal News.

Newcastle United brought in no less than 12 new players to St. James’ Park this summer and it has to be said that majority of the new arrivals have already started to impress for the Tyneside based outfit.

While Newcastle do arguably possess the strongest squad in the Championship at the moment, manager Rafael Benitez is still said to be interested in further strengthening his squad and the Spaniard is believed to have identified a few targets to pursue in the January transfer window.

Now according to reports from Belgian outlet Voetbal News, Newcastle are currently ramping up their pursuit to secure the services of Anderlecht attacker Frank Acheampong.

Acheampong was linked with a move to Newcastle during the summer as well and despite missing out at the moment, the Championship outfit have continued to monitor the 22-year-old.

Now Voetbal News have revealed that Newcastle sent representatives to scout Acheampong during the clash between Anderlecht and Genk during the weekend and the Magpies could potentially make their move for the Ghanaian international in January.
