Report explains why Tiote is still at Newcastle United

The Shields Gazette have claimed that Cheick Tiote’s move away from Newcastle United has not come into fruition due to the midfielder’s high wage demands.

Tiote was widely touted to be leaving Newcastle United during the summer and Galatasaray were said to be keen on signing the midfielder.

However, the transfer did not come into fruition as Tiote failed a medical with the Turkish outfit and the 30-year-old remains in the books of Newcastle at the moment.

There is still a chance that Tiote could be leaving Newcastle despite the passing of the transfer deadline as clubs in the United Arab Emirates have expressed their interest in signing the Ivory Coast international.

A bit surprisingly, the prospective move to UAE has not come into fruition for Tiote and now the Shields Gazette have gone on to reveal why the midfielder is still at St. James’ Park.

The report states that Tiote has been in talks with unnamed teams from the Emirates but the former Twente man is not willing to sanction the move as the interested clubs have not met his salary expectations.
