Newcastle United midfielder confident of scoring a lot of goals this season

Newcastle United star Mohamed Diame has stated his belief that he will find the back of the net on a regular basis this season.

Diame was signed by Newcastle United from Premier League outfit Hull City this summer and it has to be said that the 29-year-old has made a positive start to life at St. James’ Park.

That being said, Diame has not yet found the back of the net for the Magpies so far and he was desperately unlucky not to score in the EFL third round encounter against Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek after a stunning run where he coasted past four opposition players but saw his effort agonizingly hit the bar.

Following the game, Diame has admitted that he was a bit unfortunate not to score with his wonderful effort but the Senegalese international is not too worried regarding the wait for his first Newcastle goal and is confident that he will score loads during the current campaign.

The 29-year-old told the Chronicle, “Yeah it was unlucky, but that’s the way to score more goals. I need to try more things like that. It didn’t come off against Wolves but hopefully it can happen on Saturday and I am saving myself for then.

“I’m getting there slowly, things always come eventually if you work hard. I need to keep working hard and all the other stuff will come. I am confident about this. The team is in a good way and will have a good game with Aston Villa.”
