Speaking to Newcastle United’s official website, attacker Mohamed Diame has stated manager Rafael Benitez is not happy with his performances.
Newcastle United pulled off a bit of a coup in the summer after convincing Mohamed Diame to swap Premier League football with Hull City for a slog in the Championship.
With the presence of Diame in the team, many thought that Newcastle would be able to storm their way through the Championship and while the Magpies have done well, it has to be said that the midfielder has been very disappointing at St. James’ Park so far.
Diame has contributed only 1 assist so far this season in 8 appearances and he has clearly struggled to get going at Tyneside. Now Diame has gone on to speak regarding his time at Newcastle so far and has admitted that manager Rafael Benitez is not happy with his performances.
“When Rafael Benitez called for me, he called me for more than I am giving at the moment,” he told Newcastle’s official website. “As I say, I am still working hard, that’s why I think I am still in the team, but I need to give more offensively.”
