Speaking to the Chronicle, Newcastle United superstar Dwight Gayle has given his thoughts regarding the support from the St. James’ Park faithful.
Gayle joined Newcastle United from Crystal Palace during the summer for a fee believed to be in the region of around £10 million and it has to be said that the striker has already more than managed to justify his sizeable price tag.
The 25-year-old has scored an impressive 7 goals in just 9 appearances for Newcastle so far this season and his exploits have been crucial in helping the Magpies enjoy a stunning start to their campaign.
Given his wonderful run of form, it has been no surprise whatsoever in seeing the passionate Magpies’ faithful taking a real liking to Gayle and the ex-Peterborough United star has now gone on to speak regarding his feelings for the fans.
Gayle has described the Newcastle supporters as ‘fantastic’ and has revealed that they show their appreciation towards him even when he is just walking down the streets.
The attacker was quoted saying by the Chronicle, “The fans here are fantastic. Even when you are walking down the street everybody is fully behind you!
“Everybody in the city is pulling in the right direction and that’s exactly what we need. Hopefully, we can continue to push on and give them what they want – which is promotion back to the Premier League.”
