Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has gone on to speak regarding the return to management of Steve McClaren and Neil Warnock.
Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is arguably one of the most respected voices in the English game today and the Spaniard has recently been queried regarding the shock appointments of Steve McClaren at Derby County as well as the arrival of Neil Warnock at Cardiff City.
McClaren was surprisingly handed a move back to Derby recently despite his acrimonious exit just over a year ago and many were left scratching their heads as to why the Rams decided to give the ex-England boss another chance, especially following his horror show at Newcastle United last season.
However, Benitez has stated that he is not surprised by the return of McClaren and has wished the ex- Magpies’ boss the best at the iPro Stadium.
The Spaniard was quoted saying by the Chronicle, “I’m not surprised. I’m just concentrating on my job. I wish him all the best. Hopefully he can do really well – but we have to be above them.”
Benitez then went on to speak regarding Neil Warnock, who in the past has claimed that the Spaniard threatened to sue him, and explained that despite the saga, he does not have any problems with the current Cardiff boss.
The Newcastle manager continued, “I don’t have any problems [with him]. I want my players beating the other players. The managers don’t count.”
