Speaking to the Chronicle, Newcastle United attacker Dwight Gayle has stated that he is feeling very confident at the moment.
Newcastle United have been in stunning form of late and following the fine 2-0 victory over Barnsley in midweek, the Magpies have managed to move into top spot in the Championship table.
It has taken a collective team effort for Newcastle to achieve such exploits but if a star individual had to be singled out for the Magpies so far this season, many would surely choose the prolific Dwight Gayle.
Gayle has been in sensational form this season, scoring 11 goals in as many appearances and the attacker has managed seven goals in his last four matches.
Such a run of form is sure to send fear into the spines of Championship defenders when they come up against Gayle and the 25-year-old has now gone on to make a statement that will have his opponents even more worried.
Gayle has said that he is feeling very confident in front of goal at the moment and is working hard in order to maintain his wonderful run of form.
He told the Chronicle, “I always have confidence in myself in front of goal but I just need to be sure that I’m helping the team in other ways as well and getting us up the pitch better. I perhaps didn’t have the best first half but I’m just trying to help the team as much as I can and at the moment it’s getting results.
“I go out to score as many as I can, but Ipswich are a good side and we know they’ve been keeping a lot of clean sheets. We’re going to have to look at all the clips and work out where it is we can break them down.
“I am really enjoying my football at the moment but the most important thing is to keep working hard because I know how easy it can be to lose it and to stop getting the goals, the accomplishments and to enjoy my football. So I just need to keep working hard – and this is only the beginning.”
