As quoted by the Daily Star, Luton Town manager Nathan Jones has hailed on-loan Newcastle United striker Alex Gilliead as a future Premier League star.
While Newcastle United do tend to spend heavily in the transfer market to improve their squad, it has to be noted that the Magpies currently also possess a number of quality players in their youth ranks as well.
Many are understandably excited by the promise of wonderkid Adam Armstrong and now another youngster in the form of Alex Gilliead seems to be catching the eye at the moment.
Gilliead was sent out on loan by Newcastle United to Luton Town over the summer and the 20-year-old has managed to make a positive impact for the League Two side so far.
Gilliead’s performances during the current campaign have most certainly impressed Luton boss Nathan Jones and the 43-year-old has now gone to lavish praise on the youngster, before earmarking him to become a Premier League footballer in the future.
Jones told the Daily Star, “It’s a little bit early but we’d love to have him in our ranks permanently. That’s the type of player he is, that’s the type of player we look for.
“But no, let’s let the boy settle, let him continue his development and I’m sure Newcastle are delighted with how he’s playing and the performances he’s putting in.
“I believe he’s going to be a thoroughbred player. I believe he’s going to be a Premier League player. He’s kind of backing up my words.”
