Speaking to the Chronicle, Newcastle United new signing Jesus Gamez has stated that he has been left frustrated by his persistent injury problems this season.
Newcastle United managed to secure the services of Jesus Gamez from Atletico Madrid over the summer and many felt at the time that the Magpies pulled off a bit of a coup by attracting the right-back to St. James’ Park.
However, the 31-year-old’s time at Newcastle so far has not proven to be too fruitful as he has been limited to only 18 minutes of action in the Championship during the current campaign.
Gamez has now gone on to speak regarding his struggles at Tyneside so far by revealing that he has been out of action due to an Achilles tendon problem and has also expressed his hope of making a return back to the pitch in the foreseeable future.
Speaking to English publication, the Chronicle, he said, “I will be available soon, today I started training a bit with the team. I got to play some pre-season, but was screwed up and decided to stop to recover well.
“I’m very happy, it’s a new experience which my family and I are enjoying. Football wise, I wish I was better than I am. I’ve been injured for a while with the Achilles tendon thing.
“The truth is that it’s going very well. The team is young, we have many young players and they’re learning the tactical aspects fast, which was needed. The team is gathering concepts and improving very fast.”
