As reported in the Northern Echo, Newcastle United may face difficulties over one of their star players in January.
Yoan Gouffran has been one of Newcastle’s star players this season. Impressing with both his attitude and his on the field performances, even chipping in with some very important, and spectacular goals.
However, French side Lille are said to have renewed interest in the winger and when January comes around, Gouffran will only have six months remaining on his contract and while Rafa Benitez may be keen to keep his newly rejuvenated ace, at 30 years old Gouffran may want to return to France.
It is also noteworthy that talks are yet to begin over a new deal for Gouffran and if one is not signed by January, Newcastle may find themselves losing Gouffran for free in the summer. However, cashing in on Gouffran in January could be even more costly, as United are already without Christian Atsu then, due to the African Cup of Nations.
