As reported by the Chronicle, Newcastle target Alan Judge could return to light training in the first ten days of January.
This means that it could be possible for the Magpies to make a move for Judge, in the January transfer window.
Judge was a well-documented target for Rafa Benitez’s side in the summer, but concerns about his recovery seemingly stopped any move.
The Republic of Ireland international is currently recovering from a broken leg and a statement from Brentford medic Neil Greig said: Alan Judge has made positive progressions in the past four weeks.
“A meeting with the consultant this week went well and bone healing continues to improve.
“There is a further review planned in eight weeks (week beginning January 9 2017) at which point we hope to be able to gain the all clear to return to light training.
“No date for a team return has been set.”
Judge looks likely to move soon, with his deal expiring at the end of the current season.
