Anita Speaks Of ‘Momentum’ and Teammates Importance

As reported in the Chronicle, Vurnon Anita feels that Newcastle United have ‘momentum’ on their side.

A ninth straight win for Rafa Benitez’s side against Leeds United has put the side on the verge of being record breakers, with a victory at home to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday being all they need to set the club record for consecutive wins.

Anita clearly feels that this side can become record breakers. He said: “Indeed the momentum is there”.

“The most important thing was that we won; it was a good game for the team with a good performance.

“We need to keep going and take it game by game.

“We need to believe that we want to win every game and go into it like that for every match.

“It shows itself that we are ready and everybody is focused given the way we are playing.

“The supporters have been amazing. We have to take it game by game; Blackburn is next and we have to stay focused to get the win.

“It’s not going to be easy, but we’re targeting another win.”

Anita clearly feels that Dwight Gayle is vital if Newcastle are to continue to win. The striker has 13 goals in 13 league games this season. Anita spoke about the importance of Gayle, as well as his two goals against Leeds last Sunday:

“I think Jack (Colback) tried to cross and ended up shooting on goal, then Dwight was alert like always and he scored.” He added.

“It was a good goal and for us it was amazing.

“He’s (Gayle’s) very sharp in front of the goal, his link-up play is good.

“He always want to score, and he shows that.”
