How’s It Going For Moussa Sissoko?

Moussa Sissoko struggled on Tyneside, of that there can be little doubt. He didn’t perform regularly enough despite being very talented.

On top of this, the French international did little to endear himself to the Newcastle supporters and seemed to be constantly angling for a big money move.

He got that in the summer, signing for Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of around £30million. It seems that Sissoko’s poor form has continued, despite the change of club.

The feeling of many, possibly Sissoko included, was that his performances would improve with a change of clubs but they haven’t.

Tottenham were dumped out of the Champions League this week, to the amusement of many Newcastle fans. Not because of any contempt towards Spurs as a club, but because Sissoko was so vocal in his claims that he was a ‘Champions League’ standard player.

It may be worth noting that some ‘Champions League’ players in recent years include Danny Simpson and the competition has been won TWICE by Jose Bosingwa. So perhaps Sissoko is a Champions League player, albeit a poor one.
