Southgate Appointed England Manager – Which Three NUFC Players Could Be Pushing for His Squad?

Gareth Southgate was yesterday given the England job on a permanent deal.

The Former Middlesbrough manager signed a four-year contract with the English FA, but which Newcastle players could look to break into the squad in the next four years?

The first name on the list may be quite the surprise. However, there is no reason that Karl Darlow cannot make it into the senior squad within the next four years.

Joe Hart and Tom Heaton will be coming to the end in that time and Darlow is one of several players who may fancy his chances.

Like Darlow, Isaac Hayden is yet to have a real opportunity at the top level. However, if the midfielder continues his progression, then he may make it to the very top.

Hayden, who is currently representing England at Under-21 level, plays a very simple game and while he has a long way to go, if he can continue to improve, his style of play could allow others around him to flourish.

Captain Jamaal Lascelles may also fancy his chances; however, he will face stern competition from a number of young centre backs.

Lascelles has shown great leadership this season, as well as proving to any doubters that he has an astute football brain. Hopefully he will continue to improve and prove that he is a Premier League player.

If he can do that, Lascelles may have the best chance of the three of making the England squad within the next four years.
