A Former Newcastle Star Has Had His Say on Jonjo Shelvey

As reported by the Chronicle, ex- Newcastle ace and Sky Sports pundit, Stuart Pearce had his say after the game last night.

On the incident that saw Jonjo Shelvey sent off, Pearce said:

“The more I look the incident the more I think the initial foul comes from Henri on Shelvey. If you’re going to send him off for retailitation then all well and good but the initial kick came from Henri. He’s played it clever, the linesman’s picked up on it and seen the reaction from Henri on it.

“For me it’s a free-kick to Newcastle (not a penalty) then you send him off the retaliation, which is all well and good.”

Pearce then added: “I’d probably show him the 30 minutes and say ‘You’ve dominated the game for 30 minutes then you’ve probably cost us the game’. I worked for a fella at Forest called Brian Clough and he probably wouldn’t accept that kind of thing.

“The sad thing is us the paying public didn’t get to see the final half hour which is a shame because he really is a talent.”
