Could Siem De Jong’s Exit From The Champions League Have Repercussions For Newcastle?

As reported by The Chronicle, Siem De Jong and his PSV side have been dumped out of the Champions League, after finishing rock bottom of their group.

De Jong moved to PSV on loan in the summer and a big part of that seemed to be his wish to play in the Champions League, which of course he did.

However, with PSV being dumped out of the Champions League this early, their financial state may not be as good as they had thought. Meaning that potentially it could be harder for them to sign De Jong permanently, at the end of the season.

With PSV only managing to finish fourth in their group, De Jong will not even get the chance to play in the Europa League for the second half of the season, a shame for someone with such obvious talent.

This brings up an interesting question, with De Jong now fit, would he of use to Newcastle if he does not join PSV permanently?

He certainly has the talent, although many may have lost faith in him after his injury crisis on Tyneside.
