Toon Outcast Speaks About Possible Return

As reported by the Chronicle, Siem De Jong has refused to rule out a return to Newcastle.

De Jong, currently on loan at PSV said:  “It would be a nice scenario that they are promoted first and then I return to play in the Premier League.”

The Dutchman has been at PSV since the start of the season. When the loan deal was done, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez said the following: “He has to play regularly after these years with some little problems.

“I think it was the time to give him a chance to play every week. It’s an opportunity.

“Everything is more or less done – hopefully, he can go to PSV, play and enjoy his football, and afterwards we can bring him back and he can play at the level we know he has.

“The main thing is that he has to play.

“He can go there and play and reach the level we know he can play at.”

There is no doubt that a fully fit De Jong could be an asset for any team. However, it is unlikely that Newcastle will be quick to give someone with so many injury problems, a place in their squad.
