As reported by hitc.com, Newcastle United are the bookmakers favourites to sign former Aston Villa and England midfielder, Fabian Delph.
Delph has been plagued with injury, during his time at Manchester City, after facing heavy criticism from Aston Villa fans for joining City.
Injuries are not the only reason that Delph has seen his move be called into question. A lack of playing time, coupled with a decreased influence, due mainly to sharing the pitch with such great players, meant that Delph did not make the plane for Euro 2016, as he was left out of Roy Hodgson’s England squad.
As always when a player is not playing regularly, he is linked with a move away.
Bookmakers Ladbrokes, have Newcastle are favourites to land Delph at 4/1, with West Bromwich Albion following at 5/1. Everton are third at 6/1.
This move would surely irritate the supporters of Aston Villa, who Delph used to captain. As Villa and Newcastle fans have something of a rivalry, dating back to Newcastle’s relegation some years ago.
