Full time Newcastle United 3-1 Nottingham Forest. Top of the table for New Year. Goal difference 5 better than Brighton, who are a single point behind with a game in hand.
Final game stats:
What is interesting is that despite having 6 out field players under 5’8”, Newcastle managed to win 61.5% of the aerial duels. The Toon also won 68% of their attempted tackles compared to Forest’s 47.6%. Newcastl completed 26.9% of their crosses compared to Forest’s 14.3% and interestingly Forest were awarded 16 fouls to Newcastle’s 12 – showing the Toon were not as bullied off the ball as the commentary suggested.

Plenty time but we sound as **** as our last game v Wednesday. .
Get ur act together we’ve only lost 1 player ffs

Rafa needs to get the hairdryer out
Kimtoon(Quote)
If you refresh the thread very now and then, i’ll try to post links to the goals. The Forest goal is on…
Shamrock(Quote)
SHAM your doing a bloody top job mate
icedog(Quote)
STUART, from last thread you picked the right word, the biggest “IF”
icedog(Quote)
game management. I hope Rafa doesn’t have to mention it again later…
funrafa(Quote)
Sounds like Colback has done absolutely nothing again and has failed to protect the back 4. Yet again, we are getting out muscled. Not enough physical presence in the team. Gayle, Ritchie, Colback, Yedlin, Atsu and Perez all under 5’8? I’m all for pace in the side, but we cant compete in the air and cant fight for the ball. We need a bit of both little and large. All of our offensive players are small.
Shamrock(Quote)
Colback has had a bit of a mare by sounds of it
Kimtoon(Quote)
This forest team is very poor. Much worse than s wed…
Making tough work of it
Gashley(Quote)
Perez and Colback need selling. Perez has just been bullied this season and Colback has lost the plot.
Shamrock(Quote)
Right come on. Make the most of this.
Shamrock(Quote)
Yet another home fixture we are making hard work of.
Thought the additional threat of Atsu & Yedlin might pay off, but then we have to play them in and there’s not much of that from the middle. I don’t like singling players out but I just think the last 2 games highlight Colback needing replacing for me.
Sharpy17(Quote)
Well that’s mills gone so we need to press home a winner now, will be livid if we can’t beat 10
And Gayle scores get in lad
Kimtoon(Quote)
Wehay! Gayle.
Shamrock(Quote)
Get in. …
Gashley(Quote)
Hope that stops the negativity on here
Troy Stavers(Quote)
BOOM!
Cheers for the thread btw I think you can get a ‘live commentary ‘ plugin so next time we do this we can do a BBC style live commentary

Reading V Fulham abandoned at 0-0.
Colback off, Diame on.
Shamrock(Quote)
That would be ace Andy.
Shamrock(Quote)
Diame for Colback, lets see how much better he can do then.
Kimtoon(Quote)
Gayle goal is on the thread above.

He’s a proper fox in the box. Just needs a big man to nod the balls on for him every now and then!
Shamrock(Quote)
Sham, can’t watch that link getting media can’t be played, always I get that. 👿
Kimtoon(Quote)
That’s a shame Kim. Works fine from my laptop. Not sure why that would be…
Shamrock(Quote)
Gayle’s goal demonstrated the benefits of a small forward vs big central defenders. 😛

Gashley(Quote)
Should do it.
Stuart79(Quote)
Get in Gayle
Kimtoon(Quote)
I guess Ritchie is the answer by Rafa for the creativity in midfield while Jonjo is not available.
funrafa(Quote)
Sham I get it every time I try to view clips like that no matter what site or twitter account I’m on.
Kimtoon(Quote)
Ritchie off, Lazaar on. All 3 Forest changes made.
Shamrock(Quote)
Mitro coming on.
Shamrock(Quote)
Mitro coming on
Gashley(Quote)
Toon’s 3rd goal is on the thread. Comedy defending and goal keeping. Mitro replaces Gayle.
Shamrock(Quote)
Bollocks. We are on TV in the US on Monday but on a 3 hour delay. I might have to do a Likely Lads again.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Kim I;m not too savvy with this stuff. Have you got a form of flash player?
Shamrock(Quote)
game over, made bloody hard work of that .
Kimtoon(Quote)
lol, god knows sham, I thought I updated a flash player recently though. 😕
Kimtoon(Quote)
Sounded pretty boring, but a win is a win and it puts us back on top at New Year. Really, have achieved our goals – top at Christmas AND New Year. I don’t care that Brighton’s game was called off, we are still top and who is to say they will win their game in hand (a draw keeps us top because of GD).
Eric Sykes(Quote)
3 pts back to the top….
Tht’s all that matters for now
Gashley(Quote)
will catch the goals on SSN in a bit hopefully.
Kimtoon(Quote)
Kimtoon: NUFCTV is now free. I am sure they will have highlights up… eventually. Uncle Ed will probably beat them to it even though he is 3,000 miles away and doesn’t get paid by the club.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Kim maybe your drivers are out of date? Something like driver booster 3 could help.
Shamrock(Quote)
Yep, 3 points is all that matters. Scrappy game and Mitro showed that he does more than just sit p front by heading the Forest corner away. Would sooner see Perez and Murphy go before Mitro.
Is there something in the Lansbury talk? Just so happens to be injured for the return trip just as the window is about to open. He has an Arsenal upbringing and is a far better player than Colback for example.
Shamrock(Quote)
Rafa says he has no interest in him mate
Icedog(Quote)
Sham , I will get hazel to check it out, she’s more techno than me 😳
Kimtoon(Quote)
Gayles 1st was a excellent, very difficult angle. Hope his injury isn’t gonna keep him out of the Blackburn game though.
Kimtoon(Quote)
Cheers mate.
Kimtoon(Quote)
Full time stats and full highlights now on the thread. Just refresh the page. 😀
Shamrock(Quote)
I just signed up today to NUFCTV to listen to Radio Newcastle. Had the pay service years ago but then dropped it as Fox and now NBC had shown most of games. Dropping to the Championship means I only see about 1 in 3 now. That’s one big reason I want and expect immediate promotion.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
I see Troy came out of his Laundry hamper to moan about people moaning 🙂 He has nothing left to say now with ALL of his predictions going horribly wrong. Well done Troy, I always knew that taking the opposite view to you on everything was the way to go.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
I bet even Troy’s tips on Strictly Come Dancing get kicked off first.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Thanks Sham! Cheers everybody, Happy New Year!
funrafa(Quote)
There are shorter highlights directly on the page now. Right i’m off. Goodnight all.
Shamrock(Quote)
Thanks Sham. Some scrappy goals in that match.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Hope that stops the negativity on here.
Delusional Jawdee(Quote)
Well I was at the match last night. Full stadium again with 52,245 there last night. Ritchie’s free kick was right in front of me. The goalie didn’t move. Amazing. I thought we played well for first 20 mins or so then it went a bit flat. I couldn’t see what the red card was for, can anyone enlighten me? Ref seemed to go to sideline then gave a second yellow. All other goals were at the wrong end for me so good to see them more clearly on this thread (cheers Andy) … Gayle’s first was a stunner. Overall pleased with the performance. I actually predicted 3-1 win before the match, lol wish I had put money on it. Onwards and upwards lads and lasses. Happy new year to all.
Dubai Toon(Quote)
Also just want to add that Colback and Perez were very poor last night. Ciaran Clacke was excellent again. Darlow very competent in goal. Ritchie was really good.
Dubai Toon(Quote)
Dubai, I couldn’t see either but heard after getting booked for challenge, 4th official saw him push ball into Gayles stomach and got 2nd booking for that
Simon(Quote)
Good to hear some feed back from people who were at the game. Listening to the radio yesterday, it sounded like a turgid affair, Lascelles and the toon defence in particular came in for a hammering.
That we are a one man team is ridiculous, we are a two man team, where would we be without the goals from Gayle ?
Hopefully that stops the negativity on here.
Dubai, pleased for you that you had a nice evening out mate, I love watching games at sjp under the floodlights, its even better when we win !
Delusional Jawdee(Quote)
talk Gayle has a injury, dont know how bad?
icedog(Quote)
Yep he was limping and injured when he got our third Ice./ I said last night that I hoped he’d be ok for Blackburn but I suspect he won’t be.
Kimtoon(Quote)
Time for Mitro to step up if Gayle is out or maybe Murphy even.
Kimtoon(Quote)
Ice as Kim said he was limping and limping after he scored. Thought he would just run it off, but sensibly taken off with the game on Monday. Don’t think it was too bad, at least hope not. At least still able to get up and score
Simon(Quote)
He did take a bit of a beating throughout the match though
Simon(Quote)
mitro and murphy both available, well see if rafas flawed strategy of not giving them enough game time comes back to bit him in the ***.
Hopefully that stops the negativity on here.
Delusional Jawdee(Quote)
negativity, surely not 🙂 we are Toon fans, we only do deluded 😉
Kimtoon(Quote)
Mate, he is targeted every match I have been able to watch, no matter who the opposition are. Constant niggly fouls on him often going unchecked by the woeful refs in this division. And STILL he is English footballs top scorer
Kimtoon(Quote)
I know what you mean Kim, but seemed more over the top than ever last night, all of defence and most of midfield onto him all game
Simon(Quote)
Simon, didn’t see the game just the highlights on SSN so I will take your word for it, but it doesn’t surprise me one bit tbh.
Kimtoon(Quote)
It’s obvious that we are going through a dip in form, which was always going to happen at some point. Thankfully it didn’t matter in the second half as they had a second yellow (for something the 4th official spotted, quite unusual and lucky for us) the game swung in our favour although it still took some exemplary poaching from Gayle. That’s one team beaten who could have done the double over us. Another at Blackburn on Monday. (Both of those teams are strugglers interestingly). It’s another game that would be nice to win for that reason.
