Loan Target Looks Set To Slip Through Newcastle’s Fingers

As reported by the Chronicle, Newcastle United appear to have missed out on the opportunity to take Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan from Premier League side Chelsea.

The opportunity now seems to have been awarded to Brighton and Hove Albion and former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton.

Many had hoped that Loftus-Cheek may bring some much needed creativity into the Newcastle midfield, especially after how apparent this issue has become in the absence of Jonjo Shelvey.

However, this may not be a bad thing. It is clear from the first few days of this January transfer window that United have many targets in mind and this decision may prompt Rafa into making a move for a more permanent target.

Perhaps it will mean that Newcastle will increase their interest in playmaker Ryad Boudebouz, or Liverpool youngster Kevin Stewart, or perhaps there will even be another target that is yet to be disclosed.
