As reported by the Chronicle, Rafa Benitez has spoken about his plans in the January transfer window after Aleksandar Mitrovic suffered an injury in yesterday’s game against Birmingham City.
Mitrovic was stretchered off after Daryl Murphy’s opener in the 1-1 draw and after the game, Benitez said: “We’ll see how long. In terms of what we were thinking before, it’s the same situation.”
“Yeah, it is more for him. Maybe in one week he will be fine, but in terms of the transfer window we won’t consider anything else.”
Benitez discussed the result, adding: “I’m not very happy with that (a draw), but it’s fine.
“We played a lot of players who weren’t playing and changed system.
“We did it to make sure they’d get minutes under their belts and that’s it.”
“I’m not happy because we have to play another game, but maybe others will get a chance to improve and show the level they have.”
