As reported by the Chronicle, Newcastle could be about to lose Cheick Tiote to Spanish side Sporting Gijon.
The Sporting director is rumoured to have flown to England in an attempt to secure Tiote’s signature.
Gijon are hoping to land the Ivorian enforcer for a minimal fee, possibly even for free, after Tiote’s wages are said to have been something of a stumbling block.
Which is why the Spanish clubs director has reportedly flown over, to persuade Tiote that the Spanish La Liga has something to offer the midfielder, over taking a huge pay day elsewhere.
If the truth is told, it has been some time since Tiote has been at his best and he has really been unsettled on Tyneside for some time now, we have woken up to rumours of his departure every transfer window for at least two years.
However, it should be remembered that Tiote was bought for £3.5million and he has been brilliant over the years. So much so that he is the most senior player in the squad, with more first team appearances than anyone.
