Former Number One Set To Return?

As reported by the Chronicle, former Newcastle number one Tim Krul has been linked with a return to the club.

Krul is currently out on loan at Dutch giants Ajax, but has only made a handful of reserve team appearances since making the switch.

Now reports in Holland are saying that Ajax, who signed Krul to be their new number one in the summer, are looking at ways to cut his year long loan short.

Any return for Krul would surely see him return as the clubs number one, but with Karl Darlow currently occupying the spot, Rob Elliott returning to fitness and Matz Sels eager to prove himself, it would be interesting to see how things would work out.

Sels, of course, has been linked with a loan move, so the arrival of Krul could see the Belgian ace head elsewhere to rediscover his form and confidence.

Young stopper Freddie Woodman has also left the club on loan this January.
