Rafa Talks About What He Looks For In A Squad

As reported by the Chronicle, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has spoken about what it is that he looks for in a squad.

Speaking after the win against Rotherham, Benitez said: “A good squad needs balance. Players with experience and young players, and players with quality.”

One player who ticks a couple of those boxes is Daryl Murphy. Murphy arrived here to a mixed reception in the summer, following his transfer from Ipswich, but has proved his doubters wrong and his manager very right.

On Murphy, Benitez said: “Daryl has proved in this division that he can score goals and against Rotherham was another example.”

“We have been talking about his experience and he’s been training well.”

“We know what a good professional he is.

“He’s got another goal and he gives the team some balance.

“When you are playing well you still need somebody there who can put the ball in the back of the net.”

  1. 3rd rated striker playing in a one man forward team?
