As reported by the Chronicle, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has spoken about a defeat at Newcastle, some years ago, that appears to have taught him a lesson.
In reference to the game, that saw Glen Johnson end up in goal due to Mourinho making three subs very early, he said: “I threw it away, I gambled too much,”
“I focused too much on Barcelona and Liverpool.
However, Mourinho does appear to be determined that it won’t happen again, adding: “So I don’t throw it away [now].
“If I lose, I lose because the opponent was better or because we didn’t play well.
“Maybe we foreign managers, not everybody studies and understands the culture of this country.”
“In my case, I had immediately in my first time that situation with the match at Newcastle so for me it was a lesson.”
Im sure that this is still a match that many Newcastle supporters remember fondly.
