As reported by the Chronicle, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has played down talk of a move to China.
Benitez had been linked with a move to China, following the league managing to attract a host of former Premier League managers, such as Gustavo Poyet and Andre Villas-Boas.
When asked about the links, Benitez said: “I was asking where it’s coming from.”
“At the beginning of the season a lot of people were talking about Chinese clubs, but now it was surprise to me.”
He followed up by commenting on the Chinese top division, adding: “It is interesting. They are trying to grow and trying to improve.
“They are trying to bring in names.
“But they will need some time to go to where they want to be.”
Benitez had played down reports of a move to Arsenal earlier this month, saying: “As a manager you know that people will talk.
“But the main thing for me is to be sure we are doing well and doing our jobs.”
