NUFC targeting TWO Premier League strikers this summer: here’s 3 names linked

It has been reported in today’s Chronicle that Newcastle United will look to sign TWO strikers with Premier League experience this summer – should they gain promotion back to the top flight.

The news in this morning’s Chronicle will be music to the ears of Newcastle United fans, who, more than most, know the importance of a striker Premier League proven striker.

Dwight Gayle, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Daryl Murphy have provided a wealth of striking options this term, the trio are yet to fully prove themselves in the Premier League.

It is therefore great to hear that Newcastle plan to sign TWO Premier League proven strikers, should we gain promotion, with the key to a successful season often starting with a reliable talisman spearheading the side.

With this in mind, The Chronicle have today credited The Magpies with interest in the following three strikers:

Andre Gray

The 25 year-old has 9 goals for newly promoted Burnley this season. He has the pace to unsettle defenders and could be available at a cut price, given his contract with the The Clarets runs out next summer. Fans may be underwhelmed by his signing but he’s a player I believe could thrive at St. James’ Park.

Daniel Sturridge

An ambitious transfer link, but given talk that Jurgen Klopp could be ready to cash in on the 27 year-old this summer, it may just have legs. He has undoubted ability but a treacherous injury record, however could be a player worth taking a risk on. Sturridge may need a move and regular football to re-ignite his career and Benitez could no doubt get the best out of the England striker, should he stay fit.

Callum Wilson

Newcastle were linked with a move for the Bournemouth striker in January, however an astronomical fee quoted by The Cherries natrually put The Magpies off. Like Gray, Wilson has shown several flashes of Premier League potential, however a recent knee-ligament injury may put Benitez off signing the 25 year-old.
