What a weekend it’s been for ex-NUFC midfielder, Gael Bigirimana.
The 23 year-old saw his wife Natalia give birth to their first daughter, Eden, in the early hours of Saturday morning. As if things couldn’t get any better, just 24 hour later, the likeable midfielder opened the scoring at Wembley in the EFL trophy final, in a game which his side, Coventry, go on to win 2-1!
Bigirimana signed for Newcastle from Coventry in the summer of 2012. Despite showing signs of promise in his early days, the Burundi born midfielder only went on to make 13 appearances during his 4 years on Tyneside and was released over the summer, going on to re-join his former club, Coventry City.
It must be said that the youngster was a loveable character, so i’m made up for ‘Bigi’ and delighted to see him enjoy such an unforgettable weekend both on and off the field.
See below for his goal on the Wembley stage – what a moment for him!
