‘Future Newcastle number one’ puts in man of the match display during loan spell in Scotland

Newcastle United goalkeeper, Freddie Woodman, is impressing during his time on loan with Kilmarnock, as the England U-20 international put in a man of the match performance against Rangers on Wednesday.

Woodman, 20, joined the SPL side on loan in January along with fellow NUFC youngsters Sean Longstaff and Cal Roberts, with Benitez keen for the trio to gain some valuable first-team experience.

The England U-20 International began his time in Scotland as Kilmarnock’s second-choice goalkeeper, however Woodman has enjoyed a run in the first team in recent weeks and is beginning to impress, making the SPFL team of the week on 2 occasions across 11 appearances since his January move.

The promising youngster enjoyed his best game to date this week, as Kilmarnock gained a well earned point and clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against 3rd placed Rangers.

Kilmarnock fans were impressed by Woodman’s display, with several speaking highly of the player following his heroics this week:

Woodman recently admitted to keeping in regular contact with Rafa Benitez and has big ambitions, with the Croydon-born keeper, who signed a new 4 year deal last summer, having every intention of becoming Newcastle United’s no.1 in the years to come.

Should he keep putting in performances like this, we may just see the promising young goalie between the sticks at St. James’ some day soon:
