Newcastle United fell to a devastating draw last night at St. James’ Park, with a 95th minute equaliser from Chris Wood handing Leeds a share of the spoils in a game the Magpies utterly dominated.
It was the biggest attendance in the Championship this season and the atmosphere was, for me, the closest thing we’ve seen to a derby match since we last played Sunderland. There was a real feeling that both sets of fans wanted to get on over one another, with pride and points at stake at this crucial stage of the season.
We took to Twitter to see what the travelling Leeds fans had to say. A few make some valid points, some suprisingly fair and others appear darn right ridiculous:
Totally dominated by them but games like that make you realise how much our defence has come on last Season that would have been 6-0 #LUFC

Don’t know what the Toon are moaning about, they should have had the league won by March with that squad, money & manager #lufc #nufc

Maybe a point was undeserved for #lufc Exceptional defending and togetherness and poor finishing from #nufc meant that one chance was enough pic.twitter.com/SlbXQXONAp

For #nufc and #rfc fans, the game of football is about goals scored not shots, corners, possession. All true football fans know this #lufc

#LUFC two best players being dominated by their #NUFC alternates.

Never deserved less than a draw. Played really sharp football. #lufc

First half fairly even, second half thought they dominated & deserved to win. But as KK said, we're still in it & we're still fighting #LUFC

It’s a tough one to take, but we move on to Ipswich on Monday!
