NUFC become bookies favourite to sign Chelsea hotshot this summer

Chelsea prospect, Tammy Abraham, has flourished during his loan spell at Bristol City this season and has recently become the bookies favourite to join Newcastle United this summer.

The 19 year-old has an outstanding 22 league goals for Bristol City this season, making him the joint second top scorer in the Championship. To put this achievement into context, he’s scored the same number of goals as Dwight Gayle, with Abraham bagging those in a struggling Bristol City side – making his goal tally all the more impressive.

He has impressed me every time i’ve seen him. His eye for goal combined with his turn of pace and 6ft 4 frame give him every chance of becoming a very dangerous striker.

Ladbrokes are now offering odds of just 3/1 for the Chelsea youngster to make the move north this summer, suggesting the Magpies are at the front of the queue for the England U-21 striker.

As much as I rate him, I’d have mixed feelings on the potential arrival of Abraham should this rumour end up carrying some weight. His potential is there for all to see, but it could be argued that United would require a more experienced, proven goalscorer should we earn promotion to the Premier League in recent weeks.

I would love the luxury of adding a striker of such promise to the squad, but a likely loan deal or a pricey permanent transfer (given he is an impressive young english talent) is something I can see Rafa opting against given our reported hunt for a striker with Premier League pedigree this summer.
