The Chronicle have revealed, in an exclusive today, that Rafa Benitez will look to add ‘around 8’ new signings to his squad summer, ahead of next seasons return to the Premier League.
Newcastle’s squad may have coped with the demands of the Championship this season, sealing promotion in last night’s 4-1 win over Preston, but there is a common belief amongst fans that this current side would not survive in the Premier League.
Today’s news, from the often reliable Chronicle, claims that Benitez is fully aware of the task in hand and wants to sign 8 new players to allow Newcastle to compete next season – also making reference to the areas of the pitch Rafa will look to strengthen.
The report states that Benitez will look to recruit a right back, centre-back, let-back, central midfielders, a left winger and two strikers, suggesting Newcastle fans can expect another summer of changes over the transfer window.
Let’s hope Rafa gets the backing he deserves and requires to give Newcastle a fighting chance of holding their own in next seasons Premier League.
