NUFC dealt injury blow as SIX are ruled out of tomorrow’s trip to Cardiff

Rafa Benitez confirmed in today’s pre-match press conference that SIX Newcastle players will sit out of tomorrow’s clash with Cardiff –  but hopes to have them ready for the final game of the season.

Speaking to the media today, Benitez gave the following injury update:

“In terms of injuries, we have some players who were playing with little problems – Lascelles, Ritchie, Hanley, Anita.”

“Also, Gamez has a problem and Gayle is still not available, so with these players, we will try to fix their problems now because we have more time.”

“They will not be in the squad (for tomorrow’s game).”

“If everything is fine, they will be ready as soon as possible – not for this game, maybe for the next game.”

With Ritchie, Lascelles, Anita, Gayle, Hanley and Gamez all out of tomorrow night’s game, Benitez will be forced into some changes, with three of the six starting in Monday’s promotion sealing victory over Preston.

Whilst the capable Mbemba and Yedlin will almost certainly replace the injured Lascelles and Anita (to many fans delight), the biggest blow will be the loss of Matt Ritchie, who not only gives us bundles of energy and fight, but goals and creativity.

We may have sealed promotion, easing any nerves going into the penultimate game of our season, however the Championship title is still at stake, with a win tomorrow putting us just one point behind Brighton.

Here’s hoping we can get the win to keep our title hopes alive!
