After explicitly mocking our previous two relegations from the Premier League, it’s fair to say Newcastle fans have built up a justifiable dislike for Aston Villa.
The events of yesterday saw Steve Bruce’s side do us a huge favour, however, with Jack Grealish’s 89th minute goal handing the Magpies the title at Brighton’s expense.
Rather ironically, yesterday’s drama arrived a year to the day after Newcastle’s dismal 0-0 draw away at Villa Park in 2016 – which all-but relegated us this time last season.
Yes we both suffered relegation that season, but it’s funny how things have changed since. Newcastle have gone up as champions, whilst Villa have finished the season 18 points behind the play offs – a staggering 32 points behind us!
Without further adieu, here’s some of the best reactions from both sets of fans yesterday:

In 2009, a deflected Aston Villa effort relegated Newcastle from the Premier League. Today, one has sent them back as champions. #NUFC #AVFC

Remember when #AVFC fans took pride in singing about how they sent us down.
Now they can sing about how they won us the league.#NUFC
