There were some promising scenes following Newcastle’s title winning parade yesterday, with footage showing Rafa Benitez and Mike Ashley celebrating the achievement together after the match.
The picture below emerged in the moments following the lap of honour, with it Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley both present at St. James’ Park to take in yesterday’s game and incredible atmosphere.
The Chronicle had suggested that the Benitez will open crunch talks with Ashley this week, however revealed that the pair held a brief opening conversation about the future of Newcastle United in the midst of yesterday’s post match celebrations.
Ashley was all smiles in the stands yesterday and he had every reason to. The feel good factor is back at Newcastle United, with the club not only earning immediate promotion back to the Premier League, but doing it in style as league winners.
Benitez’s meeting with Ashley is key for the future of this club, with several important plans for the future needing to be agreed upon, however I am as optimistic as i’ve ever been that Rafa will stay.
