How much will Rafa have to spend this summer & where will he strengthen?

Following yesterday’s fantastic announcement that Rafa Benitez will remain as Newcastle United manager, the Chronicle have suggested how much he will have to spend this summer & what areas of the pitch he will strengthen.

Last night’s news came as a huge relief to all NUFC fans, but the hard work starts here, with Rafa Benitez and Lee Charnley facing a big task this summer to get Newcastle United well equipped to compete in the Premier League next season.

In a rare statement from Mike Ashley, he announced yesterday that Benitez would be handed “every last penny that the club generates through promotion, player sales and other means in order to build for next season”.

In light of this, the often reliable Chronicle believe that this summers transfer kitty will be between “£70-£100m”, also stating that Benitez wants “as many as seven new first-team ready players”.

Finally, they claim that Benitez will prioritise the signing of “centre-back, left winger, central midfielder and two strikers”, with the Spaniard planning a ‘substantial rebuild’ to transform his squad into one fully capable of competing at Premier League level.

One thing is for sure however, the exact sum of money Rafa is handed is not what REALLY matters here, it’s the fact that he and Mike Ashley now share common ground and a plan moving forward to make this club great again.

An interesting and important summer awaits – in Rafa we trust!
