NUFC make in form Premier League striker their number one attacking target this summer

The Northern Echo report that Newcastle will make Bournemouth striker Joshua King their number one attacking target this summer.

Rafa Benitez is looking to build a side capable of competing at Premier League and is said to have identified the in form forward as one of his top targets over the coming months.

The 25 year-old attacker has bagged an impressive 15 goals for Bournemouth this season – a tally that has only been bettered by seven Premier League players (Lukaku, Kane, Sanchez, Costa, Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Alli, Hazard).

King, who can play up front or out wide, has had an outstanding 2017, scoring 11 goals in his last 14 games, including the goal that officially relegated Sunderland last month.

Tottenham are also said to be interested in the Norwegian international, whose goals are said to have caught the eye of several Premier League sides.

While he’d seem a very good addition to our side, i’d approach this deal with caution. He’s had an impressive season but can not be regarded as a ‘proven’ Premier League scorer just yet, after 6 goals in his previous top flight campaign and just 3 goals in 56 appearances for Blackburn between 2013-2015.

He’s a player I like the look of, with room for improvement at a good age of 25, but not someone we could pin our hopes on to deliver 15-20 goals next season, in my opinion.
