Transfer round up – all of today’s NUFC transfer news – 22/05/2017

Today’s round up of all NUFC related transfer talk:

  • NUFC are in ‘pole position’ to sign Burnley striker Andre Gray – he is understood to be keen on a move to Tyneside and could be available at a fee in the region of £10m with just 12-months left on his current contract.
  • Spanish reports continue to link Leganes midfielder Gabriel Pires with a move to Newcastle this summer – it is believed that Rafa Benitez wanted him in January and could activate his £6m release clause.
  • Michy Batshuayi is being tracked by NUFC according to reports in Belgium – the striker could be available on loan this summer after struggling for game time at Chelsea last season.

  • Rumoured NUFC target Ben Gibson has admitted he wants to stay in the Premier League following Middlesbrough’s relegation to the Championship – one to watch with Benitez in the market for a centre-back this summer?
  • Former striker target Sebastien Haller has admitted he turned down the opportunity to sign for Newcastle last summer as he felt it was “premature” to move to a club who were not yet in the Premier League – he’s recently signed for Bundesliga side, Frankfurt from Dutch side FC Utrecht.

  1. 3 of those rumors are around strikers. Who are NUFC going to sell? Mitrovic and Perez? Do you think they are both out of here?

  2. Wouldn’t be surprised if one of them left. But it’s worth considering that Perez isn’t so much a striker and more a no.10. Also Murphy likely to leave.

Rafa will want depth, as he’s shown last summer.
