Out of contact duo Vurnon Anita & Yoan Gouffran look set to leave the club this summer according to the Shields Gazette.
The pair both left for their summer holidays with their futures at NUFC up in the air, but it is understood that chances of them receiving new deals has significantly reduced over the past week.
With a combined total of 66 appearances in the Championship last season, they contributed considerably to our promotion & title winning campaign. They did a ‘job’ in the side and should be applauded for their efforts, but I believe this is the correct decision for all parties moving forward.
Whilst Anita and Gouffran have Premier League experience, are relatively versatile & work hard for the team, several fans doubt their ability to handle make any sort of impact in the Premier League.
A few have called for Benitez to keep Anita, however the Dutchman tended to struggle against some of the more direct and skilful wingers he faced last season, which doesn’t bode well given he’d be up against the likes of Hazard, Sane and Mane next season.
