Newcastle United hope to tie up a loan deal for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham over the next 48 hours according to news breaking from several outlets late last night.
The Daily Mail report that the striker is on the verge of a move to Tyneside, whilst the Chronicle claim that a deal is close, with the club hoping to finalise the signing over the weekend, should everything go to plan.
It is understood that Newcastle will beat Brighton, Leicester, Middlesborough and Sunderland to his signature, with United agreeing to pay all of his £25,000 weekly wages.
The 19-year-old broke onto the scene in outstanding fashion last season, scoring an incredible 23 Championship goals for relegation threatened Bristol City last season – the second highest total in the league, equalling Dwight Gayle’s impressive tally.

Here's his 26 goals last season – 6 yard poacher! #NUFC

I have my reservations about how much game time we can give to a 19-year-old striker unproven at this level, however the rangy striker did impress me whenever I watched him last season.
His promising all round play, lively movement, deadly finishing and 6ft 4 frame suggested to me that he’d have every chance of becoming a top striker.
Here’s a few reactions from Twitter following the news late last night:
I watched him a lot last season and he was very good in a struggling side. Quite an all rounder too which may help with the step up. https://t.co/JYaTRQew1n

A huge risk for Abraham to join a club of Newcastle's size – still not sure he will start too many games next season.

Is there anything this man WON'T do for #NUFC
"Benitez went to St George's Park on his wedding anniversary to convince Abraham to move." https://t.co/Yd5yvP3ysT

Could be wrong but I'd say Abraham coming in on loan would end Mitros time here. Would still expect another forward. #NUFC

Many saying Abraham a good 'option' & it'll 'free up cash for main striker' but #CFC will want him playing every wk. Unsure how this'll work
