Newcastle are a club on the up, back in the Premier League, with Rafa Benitez backed by incredibly loyal fans and a 52,000 stadium. What is not to like for a potential new investor?
Whilst we have hoped to see the back of Mike Ashley for several years, I would be careful what you wish for, however. Whilst the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City have done wonders thanks for new investment, Blackburn and Aston Villa are examples of how new ownership can ruin a club.
Should potential new owners plan to keep Rafa Benitez, back him financially and take the club to the next level, a takeover would be incredible, but the grass isn’t always greener on the other side..
